The Apricot grows in moderately warm regions and is sensitive to frost. The tree is mainly planted on a large scale in the USA, South Africa, and the countries around the Mediterranean. Application: As a base oil 100%. Apricot kernel oil is a mild, non-greasy oil that is suitable for all skin types, but especially for sensitive skin. Argan Oil

Latin name: Argania spinosa

Raw material: Kernels
Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Organic + AB
Origin: Morocco
Botanical name: Argania spinosa
Edible: Yes
Fragrance: Neutral, nutty
Color: Golden yellow
Content: 100ml
Brand: j’Olie et Co Aromatherapy

About Argan Oil
The argan tree is one of the oldest trees in the world and can live up to 250 years. Originally the argan tree was found in almost all North Africa. And thrives best in a dry and hot climate. Today it only grows in the south of Morocco and belongs to a protected tree species.

Argan oil is obtained from the kernels of the fruit of the argan tree. The fruit of the tree is green and resembles an olive but is larger. Inside is a hard kernel, which can contain up to three grains from which the argan oil is extracted. The traditional production of this oil is demanding, it takes about 100 kg of fruit to make only 2-3 liters. Traditionally, argan oil has been widely used in Morocco as an effective oil for treating dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles, joint pain, and skin inflammation. It is also used to prevent hair loss and dry hair.

The argan tree or arganie (Argania spinosa) is the only species in the monotypic genus Argania of the Sapotaceae family.

Properties: Argan oil is rich in omega-6 fatty acids, which means it aids in skin rejuvenation and skin elasticity. Many of the specific properties of argan oil are attributed to its composition of unsaponifiable matter (1% of the total concentration) and a high tocopherol content. The oil has an anti-sebum effect, reduces oiliness, and improves the appearance of oily facial skin.

Application & Use: It is used in products for mature skin but is also effective in eye care products. Argan oil is easily absorbed by the skin and has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Try it with Jojoba oil for a daily skin treat or mix it with rosehip and evening primrose for a rejuvenating facial oil. Argan oil is ideally suited for making soothing, rejuvenating products especially for the eyes, face, and neck, and is also often used for problem skin. It is also great in hair care products.

Argan oil is also suitable for use in the kitchen. Use it for baking or as a dressing for salads. There is also a food oil available from argan oil, which is pressed from roasted kernels.

Evening Primrose Oil

Latin name: Oenothera biennis L.

Raw material: Seeds
Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Organic
Origin: New Zealand
Botanical name: Oenothera biennnis
Edible: Yes
Fragrance: Neutral
Color: Golden Yellow
Content: 100ml
Brand: j’Olie et Co Aromatherapy

About Evening Primrose Oil
Evening primrose originates from Central America and was widely used by the Indians because of its special effect. Evening primrose has a long history in skin care. The original inhabitants of America already used it for bruises and for various skin problems, but also ate the roots. The oil is extracted from the seeds by cold pressing.

Properties: Evening primrose oil is known for its beneficial and healing effect. It improves the elasticity and cell structure of the skin and hair, ideal to prevent premature skin aging and to give your skin and hair a boost!

It is very rich in GLA (gamma-linoleic acid), which is said to help maintain a healthy stratum corneum (horny layer) and reduce trans epidermal water loss.

Evening primrose oil is one of the most beneficial oils when it comes to formulating products for affected skin such as eczema, acne, and inflamed skin. The γ-linolenic acid has been reported to have beneficial effects in atopic dermatitis.

The unsaponifiable portion, about 1.5-2% of the oil, contains increased amounts of sterols, tocopherols, hydrocarbons, and alcohols. Research shows that phytosterols in evening primrose oil have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal activities.

Application: The golden oil from the seeds of the evening primrose has a unique content of essential unsaturated fatty acids, especially gamma-linolenic acid. Gamma-linolenic acid has a purifying and skin-supporting effect. Evening primrose oil is therefore a very fine oil to use for impurities.

Use: Evening primrose oil can be used for acne, psoriasis, dandruff, and certain skin diseases. In addition, Evening primrose oil helps with menstrual complaints, pregnancy complaints and even menopausal complaints. Evening primrose oil is also good for well-groomed skin and is also used in natural shampoo. This natural product works from the outside and inside. It has a positive effect on skin and hair and can even be used in healthy smoothies.

Hemp Seed Oil

Latin name: Cannabis sativa L.

Raw material: Seeds
Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Organic + AB
Origin: France
Botanical name: Cannabis sativa
Edible: Yes
Fragrance: Herbaceous
Color: Greenish
Content: 100ml
Brand: j’Olie et Co Aromatherapy

About Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. Many people often think of cannabis when they think of hemp, but this plant oil comes from a hemp species that produces little or no resin and therefore has no mind-altering effect.

Thanks to the unique composition, hemp seed oil provides many positive effects! The fatty acids in hemp seed nourish and moisturize the skin without making the skin feel greasy. Hemp seed oil is suitable for every skin type but is a good choice especially for dehydrated skin and dry skin problems! Regular use of hemp seed oil can keep the skin young and taut; help slow down wrinkle formation and strengthen the skin.

Properties: The oil has a yellow to light green color and a spicy and nutty smell and taste. In addition to a distinctive nutty, mild taste and aroma, hemp seed oil features rare gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), plus antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. In addition, the oil contains an ideal ratio (3:1) of essential omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids and is cholesterol-free.

Application & Use: Hemp seed oil can be used purely as a skin oil but can also be mixed with jojoba or other fatty plant oils. It is particularly suitable for serious skin conditions and sensitive skin! And speaking of sensitive - organic hemp seed oil can help soothe irritated skin. It is excellent for regular use and makes the skin supple and smooth.

Massage:
Hemp seed oil consists mainly of unsaturated fatty acids and absorbs quickly into the skin. For a relaxing massage oil with hemp seed, you can mix 30ml of hemp seed oil with 70ml of jojoba, apricot kernel or almond oil. With a total mixture of 100 ml you can add another 10 – 15 drops of essential oil of your choice or application.

Culinary use:
The pure, 100% organic hemp seed oil from j'Olie et Co combines pleasant grassy aromas with a mild nutty taste. Real SuperHempFood, and a must in every kitchen! Even a small amount of organic hemp seed oil can make a big difference and enhance and flavor cold dishes. Essential for a balanced diet. Wonderfully soft-tasting and healthy organic cold-pressed hemp seed oil. However, the oil is not suitable for backing, roasting or to deep-fry food, because the unsaturated fatty acids are very sensitive to heat. Delicious in salads or in smoothies and even over pasta.

Note:
This is not a CBD (cannabidiol/cannabis) oil.

Latin name: Simmondsia chinensis

Raw material: Seeds
Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Cosmos EcoCert
Origin: Peru
Botanical name: Simmondsia chinensis
Edible: No
Fragrance: Nutty
Color: Yellow to amber
Content: 100ml
Brand: j’Olie et Co Aromatherapy

About Jojoba
Jojoba is actually a wax, which is liquid at room temperature. It is a fantastic moisturizing oil because its structure is very similar to the sebum of the skin. It has a slightly nutty odor with high viscosity and exhibits extremely high thermal and oxidative stability. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antifungal activities. Since it is very similar to human sebum, it is non-greasy and non-occlusive. Builds a skin protection barrier, increases the speed of barrier repair, penetrates the skin and controls sebum production.

Properties: Stable oil with a relatively long shelf life.

Note: Jojoba is a wax and therefore never suitable for internal use!

Application: Recommended for all skin types and hair and it is especially useful for acne-related skin problems. Jojoba oil can act as a cleanser on the skin as it gently unclogs pores and removes dirt and impurities.

Use: It is a great choice for massage oils, for products designed to protect the skin from the elements, as it creates a very light film on the skin that helps prevent trans epidermal water loss.

Sesame Oil (deodorized)

Latin name: Sesamum indicum L.

Raw material: Seeds
Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Organic + AB
Origin: Mexico
Botanical name: Nigella sativa
Edible: No
Fragrance: Neutral
Color: Yellow
Content: 100ml
Brand: j’Olie et Co Aromatherapy

About Sesame Oil
Sesame is widely grown in warm and tropical regions of Asia and southern Africa. In addition, sesame is grown on a smaller scale in China, Japan, and the Mediterranean. The sesame is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. The seeds are pressed and contain a non-volatile oil. The first cold pressing gives the best oil. The oil is light yellow in color, neutral in taste and strong in smell. The so-called Chinese or dark sesame oil is extracted from roasted sesame seeds. This oil is suitable for culinary use and is popular in Asian and Indian cuisine. The seed, the so-called sesame seed, is also used in cooking, especially in Japan and India.

Properties: Sesame oil is a semi-drying, blood circulation-promoting and slightly warming oil, which is experienced as soothing during a massage. Sesame oil restores the skin, is detoxifying and promotes the elasticity of the skin. In addition, sesame has a UV-protective factor (factor 3-4). Sesame oil is an excellent oil to use as a carrier/carrier oil for other medicinal substances due to its slightly warming effect and high oleic acid content. Due to the relatively long shelf life of sesame oil and the high content of oleic acid, sesame oil is also a very good oil for drawing oil macerates.

The oil rarely goes rancid, as sesame oil naturally contains preservatives such as vitamin E, sterols, and phenolic vessels. The seeds contain 50-60% oil. The culinary variant of the oil, in which the sesame is roasted beforehand, has a strong nutty flavor as well as taste. In addition, it is dark in color.

Application: Sesame oil is an ideal massage oil for young and old. Because of the blood circulation-promoting effect, this oil is especially suitable for skin that tends to atrophy, muscle pain and cramps. Due to the warming effect, a great oil to use for crying babies with, for example, stomach cramps and restlessness.

Use: Sesame oil can be used for inflamed skin, psoriasis, eczema and other skin complaints.

Shelf life: up to 1.5 years after opening.

Process: Cold pressed
Certification: Organic + AB
Origin: Spain
Botanical name: Prunus amygdalus dulcis
Edible: Yes
Fragrance: Neutral, Nutty

About Sweet Almond Oil
The almond tree is a small but graceful deciduous tree that grows in mountainous areas, usually between 700- and 1700-meters altitude. The tree thrives best on sunny slopes on rocky soils in a Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and mild, wet winters. The optimum temperature for their growth is between 15 and 30 °C. The tree grows to an average height of 4 to 10 meters. The tree flowers profusely in early spring when the tree has not yet formed leaves. The almond tree forms drupes, in which an almond develops. On average, about 20% of the flowers give a note. This percentage partly depends on the availability of bees, diseases, and the health of the tree. Weather conditions are also the most important factor. The almonds are ripe seven to eight months after flowering. Once the almond is ripe, the drupe bursts open. Harvesting is done by shaking the trees, mechanically or otherwise.

Properties: Sweet Almond Oil is rich in β-sitosterol, squalene and α-tocopherol and is one of the best sources of vitamin E, which protects healthy cells from destruction by free radicals. It is a good source of manganese, an essential trace metal used as a skin supplement to suppress premature aging, irritation, and blemishes. Manganese also stimulates energy production and activates certain skin enzymes. This oil is widely used in traditional medicine to maintain the elasticity of the skin and its youthful appearance.

The oil is often underestimated, even though it is a very versatile oil. It is suitable for cleansing, moisturizing and often used in soap making. Sweet almond oil contains vitamins A and E, as well as zinc.

Application: The sweet almond oil is the most used oil for massages and skin care. Almond oil is a great carrier oil. Because almond oil is not rapidly absorbed by the skin, therefore an ideal oil for massages. Almond oil is very suitable for use on babies’ skin. Almond oil nourishes the hair and gives the hair shine and can also aid in skin regeneration.

Use: Almond oil can be used pure or supplemented for 50% with another plant oil such as Jojoba oil or Argan oil. For a relaxing massage with almond oil, you can take 100ml of fatty plant oil and optionally add 10 – 15 drops of essential oil. Or add Almond Oil when making lip balms, hair care products, anhydrous creams, balms, butters, scrubs, emulsions, or as natural perfume bases. In addition to skin care, almond oil can also be used in the kitchen, for example on a salad.

Certification: Organic + EcoCert
Origin: Madagascar
Botanical name: Calophyllum inophyllum L.
Edible: No
Fragrance: Earthy, nutty, woody
Color: Green
Content: 100ml

About Tamanu Oil
Tamanu oil has the property of accelerating wound healing, the growth of healthy skin and the formation of new tissue. Tamanu has remarkable analgesic properties. Due to its versatile composition, Tamanu oil has a very broad range of action, acts as an antioxidant on the skin and is therefore cell protective. The oil is non-irritating and can be applied neat to the skin.

Properties: The oil itself is not suitable for massage but can be added to other basic (massage) oils, creams, ointments, body milk and lotions. Tamanu oil is well absorbed by the skin. When applied to the skin, the skin feels smooth and soft, without feeling greasy. The scent of the pure oil is nutty/herbal and not everyone can appreciate it.

In the countries of origin, the oil is liquid. In the Netherlands, the oil solidifies due to the high content of saturated fatty acids. Before pouring out the oil, you will have to hold the closed bottle under warm tap for a while.

Application: Due to the fluidizing active ingredients, it is an oil that stimulates blood circulation. Known as restorative, it promotes the regeneration of skin tissue and makes the skin supple and elastic.

Use: Tamanu oil is relatively safe and there are no known major side effects. However, an allergic skin reaction (dermatitis) can always occur. Pay extra attention if you also experience allergic reactions to other nut oils.

Do not use: During pregnancy and breast-feeding period.

Shelf life: 2 years after opening. Keep cool in case of irregular use.

Carrier oils

Carrier oils, also called base oils or fatty vegetable oils – are cold-pressed, unprocessed and 100% pure and still contain all vitamins, minerals, and unsaturated fatty acids. They serve as a base for skin and massage oils and other cosmetic products. j'Olie et Co Aromatherapy mainly has special oils and macerates in its range and are particularly suitable for body, skin, and hair care.

It is important that the oil is cold pressed. Excellent quality oil is cooled separately during the (cold) pressing, so that the oil retains all its strength and vitality. These cold-pressed oils are more expensive than the regular cold-pressed oils but pay for themselves through the good results during use. Well-known base oils are Neem Oil and Tamanu Oil.
