Grapefruit oil is cold pressed from the lusciously scented skin of the Citrus paradisi fruit, harvested from orchards in the South African countryside. Reviving, uplifting and emotionally buoyant, our Grapefruit Essential Oil has a fresh, light, citrusy, sweet, slightly bitter aroma, with a rather spicy note in the drydown, thanks to certain chemical compounds found only in grapefruits.
Grapefruit oil, like all citrus peel oils, has a predominance of limonene, the clear, lemony monoterpene that imparts an absolutely wonderful aroma when sprayed to refresh and disinfect room environments. Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) is a hybrid of Pomelo (Citrus maxima) and Sweet Orange (Citrus x sinensis). Its olfactory character is almost entirely attributed to potent trace components, especially Nootkatone and traces of a sulfur-containing compound.

Contraindications:Â May be mildly photosensitizing. It is highly unlikely, tough remote possible, that grapefruit oil will interfere with enzymes responsible for metabolizing medications. The risk increases with oral administration, as opposed to topical application.
