German Chamomile is also called Blue Chamomile. The name blue chamomile is derived from the fact that the essential oil is colored blue. The true chamomile has erected stems with many branches, with small, long narrow bi- and tripinnate leaves. The fruit of the chamomile is a yellow-brown achene. The flowers have white petals and a fairly large yellow center that is hollow inside (an iconic feature of the chamomile varieties).

German Chamomile, also known as Blue Chamomile, is a wonderful choice if you want to support overall skin health, aid in wound management and support scar healing. This essential oil is helpful in reducing unwanted muscle spasms and minimizing the presence of unwanted bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Its anti-inflammatory and cooling effect is also very effective for relieving pain and heat such as burns, rashes and insect bites. Its ability to nourish and restore a healthy skin oil balance makes it an excellent natural support for skin health and beauty.
Blue chamomile essential oil is highly effective in aromatherapy applications and adds an intriguing note to natural perfumes when used in trace amounts. This essential oil is widely used in cosmetics, soaps, detergents, high-end perfumes and hair and bath products.

Chamazulene & matricin:
The ingredient Chamazulene is known for its anti-inflammatory effect, in which modern research confirms the age-old traditional use for (inflamed) skin conditions and irritations. Matricine occurs exclusively in the CO2 extract and has an inflammatory effect up to 10 times stronger. Therapeutically, the combination of the essential oil and the CO2 extract is often used.

Contraindications: True chamomile essential oil is generally a safe essential oil. Genuine Chamomile is non-toxic, non-irritating or sensitizing to the skin, but can be left on clothing. However, sensitivities can occur, especially on the skin, in people who suffer from a pollen allergy.
