The fine odor components, which are trapped in the smoke resins, are released and move to the air in a cloud of smoke. As we breathe, they penetrate deep within us and touch our body, soul, and spirit. We are elevated to heavenly realms - the transformation begins.

So, smoking does not only work on the material physical level, but the transformation also penetrates deeply into our subtle, energetic bodies.

Two types of smoking resins:

1. Smoking incense over red-hot coals

Traditionally, incense was smoked over glowing charcoal. You need a fireproof barrel and possibly some sand.

Today, the most popular type of coal is self-igniting coal. It is easy to use because once lit it ignites itself. But here too we have to make sure that the coals get enough air all around during the ignition process. It is better to set the round tablet upright (especially if we smoke on sand) so that it has enough air to ignite. As soon as gray spots appear on the edges of the charcoal, you can turn it back over.

Now the smoking fun can begin. Dose carefully at first, because the smoke volume can be enormous with both resins and herbs.

Another possibility is pure nature - frankincense charcoal. These are pressed herbs that even give off a pleasant scent. The herbal charcoal slowly glows through and little by little glows the resin on it.

So, if the effect of the black charcoal is too strong for you, you can try the much softer herbal charcoal. It is best to smoke the herbal charcoal on a mesh barrel as it gives more air to glow through than on sand.

2. Smoke incense on a sieve with a tea light

The other way of smoking is smoking over a tea light with a sieve. This method is based on aromatherapy. A very fine sieve is placed at a distance of about 5 to 10 cm above a tea light. Aromatic lamps are suitable for this, the shell of which can be removed and replaced with an incense sieve, or incense burner specially made for the sieve.

The herbs or resins are placed directly on the sieve. They slowly fade from the rising heat of the candle flame.

Warning: If the gauze is too close to the candle, herbs or resins can ignite. Please do not leave unattended!

The feeling of smoking resins

The smoking ritual is still a fascinating experience today, as it has been since ancient times. Noble substances such as wood, resins and herbs are converted into smoke when burned, bringing the essence to a subtle level. The point of smoking was and is to connect our earthly mind with the perception of subtle, invisible spheres through the smoke. Over the gently curling column of smoke we come to rest and draw new strength for the soul.

About smoking resins

Burning herbs and resins in various forms is part of many ancient traditions of our world. Unlike evaporation, fire acts as a mediator and converter. When burned, coarse substances are converted into smoke, which brings the essence to a subtle level. This creates the connection with higher and finer levels. The point of smoking was and is to connect our earthly mind with the perception of subtle, invisible spheres through the smoke.
