Characteristic: The aroma is soft, dry and contains the unmistakable Sandalwood scent. The taste is more pronounced than the smell. It is described as dry and enjoyable. It does well in dilutions. It should be kept refrigerated but will give off more odor when it is at room temperature. Because the alcohols are well soluble in water, the hydrosol contains the active substances page6image30167520-and β-santalol. The hydrosol is just as rare as the essential oil. It is poorly available on the internet and the quality is unclear.

There is a warning against hydrosols, which are actually very dilute essential oils. The hydrosol contains water-soluble ingredients, and the essential oil contains the oil-soluble substances. With dilute essential oil, you miss certain ingredients that are present in the hydrosol.

Applications: The hydrosol of Santalum album has a calming, cooling and soothing effect on the skin and is therefore easy to use as an aftershave and as facial water, for example in a spray. It can be used as a compress for sensitive adult skin. It can be added to a bath for skin improvement and relaxation, an ointment, body lotion or cream. For the hair, the hydrosol can be added to a shampoo or used as a hair rinse. You can use it as a mouthwash or as a rinse aid for gum inflammation. It can be added to the ironing water and you can cook with it

Rachel 18-09-2023 23:51 Heerlijk zacht geurend en kalmerend hydrolaat. Voordat ik de deur uitga vernevel ik het boven mijn hoofd voor een rustgevend effect. Ik meng 1 spray met mijn dag- of nachtcrème op mijn vingertoppen, tevens voelt en smeert mijn crème zo ook luchtiger. Na het na scheren gebruik ik het als aftershave. En ik meng het in een zelf gemaakte deo spray met o.a. jojoba olie en milde, allergeen vrije etherische oliën.
Om het langer te kunnen bewaren giet ik een deel in een ijsblokjeshouder en vries deze in.
Eerder dacht ik een Sandelhout hydrolaat gekocht te hebben, wat echter Amyris hydrolaat bleek te zijn. Na zoeken op internet kwam ik bij J'olie et Co terecht en na prettig advies heb ik mijn favoriet bij deze gevonden!
