This beautiful hydrolat comes from the island of Pico, one of the 9 islands of the Azores archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. All islands have a volcanic origin. With a height of 2351 meters, the Pico is also the highest volcano of this archipelago. The Azores have a constant climate throughout the year, with little temperature variation. The temperature varies between 14.0 and 24.8°C, with August being the warmest month.
This beautiful volcanic island has a special flora, including our hedychium. The soil conditions and the constant climate make this hedychium has special properties. Hedychium gardnerianum has a floral and slightly spicy scent with a green undertone.
Hedychium gardnerianum grows in swampy environments in temperate or mild and tropical climates. It blooms from July to November. Flowering is not necessary for the above-ground parts. In addition, the mature leaves contain more essential oil than the young leaves. Harvest is therefore possible all year round. Just before the flowering period is the optimal harvest time. Harvested plant parts are left for at least half a day before distillation is started. This also indicates that the hydrolat is rich in water-soluble ingredients.
Hedychium hydrolat is particularly suitable for making moisturizing creams that rejuvenate and smooth the skin. It has an antioxidant effect and is suitable for all skin types and is especially suitable for dry and dehydrated skin.
Use as a skin tonic: Spray into your face and neck after cleansing, then apply cream or oil without drying or letting the hydrolat dry.

Contraindications: Not enough research has been done into possible contraindications. Therefore to be sure we advise, not to use if you are pregnant or lactating.
