Our Kunzea essential oil is steam distilled from the white flowers, green leaves and brown twigs of the Kunzea ambigua shrub, a member of the Myrtle family, which grows wild in Tasmania and the east coast of Australia. With its fresh, pungent, spicy-sweet, herbaceous, slightly camphor-like aroma, Kunzea Essential Oil is one of the most cherished, but lesser-known, oils derived from native Australian plants.
The Kunzea plant, with its bulbous buds and whimsical blossoms, is sometimes referred to as White Cloud or Tick Bush, recalling one of the traditional uses of controlling ticks on livestock in the outback. Kunzea essential oil has similar properties and uses to Tea Tree oil but offers a more pleasant aroma and milder sensation when applied topically. The Kunzea ambigua species that grows in Tasmania is chemically different from all other Kunzea species that come from a different ecosystem.

Contraindications: People who may be allergic to Tea Tree should take precautions; a patch test is recommended. Applying oxidized essential oils to the skin can cause skin sensitization. Hypersensitivity to essential oils from the Myrtaceae family may affect a person taking Kunzea as the essential oil contains approximately 15% of 1,8 Cineole.
